Hi me! Hi you!
Does anyone actually celebrate this holiday?
Well, I don’t ..
My family doesn’t either,
since we’re all grown up and
– either suffering from stomach ache
– or on a no-chocolate-eggs diet.
today I woke up,
not even realizing it is a “special” day.
But then I got on social media,
and got swamped with the most beautiful pictures
of easter table settings,
baskets filled with chocolate amazingness,
A bit later my mum called
and we talked about having lunch together,
with my bf, sis, brother-in-law, dad, brother,
and … dare I say most important? …
my little babybear Oskar.
(oh, fyi, he’s not my baby, he’s my sister’s 6 month old babyboy,
he’s my godchild and I’m madly in love with him)
And it struck me.
This special day may not mean anything to me,
I really want my little boy to fully experience all the magic.
So my mum suggested to quickly run to the nearest
grocery store and pray that there’d be something
baby proof – meaning not edible
(cuz he only eats vegetables and fruit right now)
– with no sharp edges
(cuz he’s in the famous oral phase, and explores the world through his mouth)
– and preferably somewhat pretty
(cuz my sister’s gonna kill me if I stock her house with ugly toys)
Bottom line was that we had something.
It’s sunday, a national holiday,
we’re driving to the middle of nowhere
– aka my hometown.
So we’d settle for pretty much anything.
And I guess we found something acceptable.
First we bought two little gadgets
in one of those old school toy vending machines;
Where you put in a quarter,
turn a handle and
when you open the little flap underneath,
a plastic see through “ball” comes out,
holding either a ring or a mini doll, or a keychain, or ..
Next we searched through a pile of books,
and found a really pretty stylish,
and at same time totally educative.
Let’s realistic here.
Everyone knows that babies a l w a y s
like the ugly stuff better.
The more color blocking,
the more weird looking figures,
the more tacky and cheap gadgets involved,
the more they will love, LOVE, L O V E it.
So, we went for it,
and found an amazingly ugly clown book.
I thinks he will really like it,
you know, when he’s ready for it.
Right now he just drools on it,
and rips everything apart.
You’re welcome, little guy.
I’ve been really into finding ways to keep myself
from endless procrastinating..
And while setting up a detailed schedule,
I really got into making ’em pretty,
So, whenever I study on location
(which is ALL the time)
I take my little draft book with me,
and draw weekly schedules,
meal planning schedules,
sport goals, and so on
as a break from studying.
I will add some more pictures later,
cuz I already got quite some.
Gotta go procrastinate some more now.
